On Monday 22nd February, AWAD’s Founder and CEO, Susan Mumford run the first meeting of the AWAD Virtual Chapter, open to Women Art Dealers (including gallerists, art dealers, art consultants and art advisors) from all over the world. Women Art Dealers from five countries and four continents were in attendance.
This first online meeting kicked off the pilot phase of the Association of Women Art Dealers‘s Virtual Chapter that is expected to run from February until the summer of 2016. The next meeting of the AWAD Virtual Chapter is taking place on Monday 21st March and full details, including how to attend, can be found on the Calendar section of this website.
The AWAD Virtual Chapter meetings will be run entirely online and will be scheduled approximately once a month, its focus being in supporting women art dealers who are not able to attend London and New York meetings and events. Art dealers are spread far and wide around the globe, and AWAD is keen to support women art dealers regardless of location. Notably, AWAD’s mission is to support and facilitate business and enable collaboration between women art dealers.
During the initial pilot phase, the AWAD Virtual Chapter meetings will be chaired by AWAD Founder & CEO Susan Mumford. As with existing chapters, visitors will be welcome to attend once prior to committing to join the association. All current AWAD Members will also be welcome to attend these online sessions during the pilot period.
As with the existing London and NYC Chapters, the chair facilitates a roundtable style conversation for all attendees, in which they are able to grow their dealer network while providing one another ideas in a collaborative fashion. Starting in March 2016, guest speakers will attend meetings to provide insight for art dealers’ ongoing professional development, with subjects ranging from contracts to working with interior designers.
