Three new showcases by ARTful

ARTful, the online gallery and advisory practice providing contemporary art for the corporate and private sector, run by Eleni Polycarpou of our London Chapter, have three showcases on in the City of London.

Four sculptures by Sam Shendi are on display at the St Botolph Building in Aldgate until September 2018. Shendi takes the human figure to its simplest form, enabling the exploration of the idea of the human form as a vessel. Sam has worldwide recognition and collectors and was the winner of the FIRST@108 Public Art Award in 2013.

At Tower 42, ARTful are exhibiting sculptures by Kim Youdan and Gemma Kelly in the first-floor reception area until mid-April 2018. Youdan has developed her mixed media technique using photography as the foundation of her work. Her approachable and colourful creations instill viewers with feelings of nostalgia, memory, and wanderlust.

Kelly’s emotionally expressive sculptures are both playful and confronting: from abstracts that draw on the aesthetic joys of dance, to human bodies that reveal pain and sorrow in their taught sinews and stressed limbs. Much of her work draws on personal experiences that she expressed boldly and without compromise, inviting the viewer into a world that is usually kept hidden and internal, such as in ‘Dance II’, featured below.
