Several AWAD members returned to exhibit at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea earlier this month. On the final day of the fair, the Association also represented female gallerists and artists by inviting Friend of AWAD, Michael Barnett, to moderate a panel discussion on ‘Painting Women Back into the Picture’ as part of the fair’s Sofa Sessions.
Michael, the STATE-F22 Editor at Large and Special Projects Lead at Art Bermondsey Project Space, and the panel talked about the important role that men have to play in gender equality, in line with the UN Women initiative HeForShe. They also shared their thoughts on women in the art world, and how the sector has changed to be more inclusive and accessible to women artists and art dealers.
