JoAnne Artman Gallery, Presents:
“THE NEW FIGURATIVE” Featuring America Martin

Wednesday, January 31st, 2018

America Martin’s compositions of poetic juxtapositions conjure a story, with the figure as a central focal point for much of the framework. Strikingly bold, the expressive lines of Martin’s work are an assimilation of light, color, movement and form with a unique emphasis on the narrative. The imagery is familiar and transportive, steeped in personal mythology and deeply allegorical. JoAnne Artman Gallery is pleased to present a new body of work rooted in Martin’s unique approach in exploring the human form and its context.

The exhibition is the Gallery’s Winter/Spring Show. The artist’s reception is on February 8th from 6pm – 8pm.

The JoAnne Artman Gallery,  is pleased to present their Winter 2016 show “This Is America” new works by AMERICA MARTIN.

AMERICA MARTIN is a Colombian American fine artist based in Los Angeles, Ca. who utilizes the human form as the primary subject in her work. In breadth and scope the exhibition represents the current stage of Martin’s artistic practice - an exploration of structure, form and medium with a focus on the human figure. Martin functions as both artist and anthropologist, as people are her dominant subject: she poignantly interprets the human spirit with flair that is all her own.

Winter 2016 Artist Reception: Thursday, November 17 th, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm
