Monday, August 8th, 2016

Kathryn Markel Fine Arts Gallery in Chelsea, is pleased to share their summer 2016 invitational show. The gallery invited three new, emerging artists to exhibit their work in a group show, curated by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts’ staff. The group show features pieces by Xochi Solis, (pictured image “The still sea is darker than before”), Anna Buckner, and Lorene Anderson. The artists’ work comprises mixed media paintings, collage, and pieced fabric on stretchers. The exhibition runs from August 4th – September 3rd, 2016.

On exhibit at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts Gallery in Bridgehampton,  YOLANDA SANCHEZ  – Recent Works.  In ancient China, there was a tradition of the Three Perfections where a poet, a painter, and a calligrapher would collaborate to create one unique and harmonious piece of art. Yolanda Sanchez manages to incorporate all three disciplines herself into her work. Using color as a vehicle for experience heightened by gesture, composition, and texture, Sanchez’s paintings provide a poetic refuge from the day to day.  August 4th – August 21st, 2016

Sara Nightingale Gallery presents Steven Kinder, Natural Forces

Wednesday, June 15th, 2016
Steven Kinder, B3-15, acrylic, pigment and crayon on rag paper, 40 1/2″ x 78″

Sara Nightingale Gallery is pleased to present Steven Kinder, Natural Forces, June 18 – July 18th.

Natural Forces, Steven Kinder’s works on paper and canvas created between 2013 and 2016, explore his fascination with dynamic tension found in nature. Tornados, tidal pools, sunbursts, black holes, combustion, organic symmetry and fractals are among the sources of inspiration for these deeply saturated and mostly large-scale works. Kinder’s drawings/ paintings – there are elements of both mediums in each work – express the radiant vitality and energetic playfulness inherent in his practice.
