2018 art season kicks-off with the London Art Fair’s 30th Edition (17th – 21st January 2018)

From 17 – 21 January 2018, the London Art Fair will return for its 30th anniversary edition. Launching the international art calendar, the Fair offers exceptional modern and contemporary art from leading galleries around the world.

Exhibiting AWAD galleries include Anise Gallery (Stand G37), Contemporary Collective (Stand G33), The Cynthia Corbett Gallery (Stand 5), Decorazon Gallery (Stand G12), Joanna Bryant Projects (Stand P18B) and TAG Fine Arts.

In a celebration of female artistic talent at this special Fair edition, an all-female line-up is set for Dialogues. We’re delighted that AWAD Member Joanna Bryant is taking part in this guest-curated section of Art Projects that is intended to encourage and foster relationships on a global scale. This year’s exhibition is curated by Misal Adnan Yildiz and consists of five pairs of UK-based and international galleries presenting selected works by women artists, with a high percentage of Non-European participants which includes indigenous practices from Maori, Kurdish, Asian, and African origins.

Young Masters is returning to the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery this October with a group exhibition which runs through London Frieze Week.
Young Masters | Tour 2.0 will showcase a selection of finalists and winners of this year’s Prizes – Young Masters Art Prize, Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize, and the inaugural Young Masters Emerging Woman Prize – alongside internationally established Young Masters Alumni and Guest Artists.

Young Masters: Unpacking Gender in the Contemporary Art World – A talk on July 2nd during the Mayfair Art Weekend

To coincide with the inaugural Young Masters Emerging Woman Art Prize a talk to celebrate and discuss gender issues around art has been organised during the Young Masters 2017 exhibition.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Susan Mumford, Founder, Association of Woman Art Dealers, and will include Jean Wainwright, Art Historian, Critic and Professor of Contemporary Art and Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, and Cynthia Corbett, Gallerist and Founder of The Young Masters Art Prize.

Young Masters: Talks includes discussions hosted by speakers from:  Be Smart About Art, offering specialist, advice and support for artists and industry professionals; and Artists’ Collecting Society, the premium collecting society for the administration of the Artist’s Resale Right (ARR). This series of talks will be accompanied by discussions led by Young Masters Art Prize Judges, including: Jean Wainwright, Art Historian, Critic and Professor of Contemporary Art and Photography at the University for the Creative Arts; and Melanie Gerlis, Art Market Columnist at the Financial Times and Editor-at-large at The Art Newspaper.

Young Masters Art Prize 2017 at Gallery 8 in June

For the first time in 2017, a new strand of the Young Masters Art Prize will be launched to profile and reward the work of an emerging female artist.  The winner of the Young Masters Emerging Woman Art Prize will be selected from all the Young Masters Art Prize and Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize entries.

The judging panel for the Young Masters Emerging Woman Art Prize comprises: Beth Colocci, Chairman of the Trustees of UK Friends of the National Museum of Women in the Arts; Sylvie Gormezano, Chair of the Association of Women Art Dealers; award-winning designer and art collector Ronnette Riley, FAIA and Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, Head of Corporate Branding and Communications and Chairperson of the Swarovski Foundation.

The exhibition takes place at Gallery 8, 8 Duke Street, St James’s, London, SW1Y 6BN and runs from 19 to 24 June 2017.

The Cynthia Corbett Gallery announces a new strand of its international prize, the Young Masters Art Prize, to profile and reward the work of an emerging female artist. The Young Masters Emerging Woman Art Prize forms part of the fourth edition of the Young Masters Art Prize, which celebrates contemporary artists who pay homage to the skill and innovation of the Old Masters and art of the past. In 2017 female artists are automatically entered to this Prize, which is sponsored by an anonymous donor.

The Young Masters Emerging Woman Art Prize will be judged by a high profile panel of judges, including the Chair of the Association of Women Art Dealers, Sylvie Gormezano and Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, Head of Corporate Branding & Communications and Chairperson of the Swarovski Foundation.

Extended deadline for applications is 31 March 2017.
