ODETTA presents Mesmerize – a group show

Sunday, September 2nd, 2018
Color is a catalyst. Emotion, communication, and pleasure are but a few of the ways we map human characteristics onto color. Mesmerize is about the escape into color through playful, yet deeply considered means. ODETTA is pleased to offer the second of four color-focused exhibitions for 2018. The exhibition brings together four artists, Elizabeth Gourlay, Stephen Maine, Carol Salmanson, Audrey Stone whose paintings and LED light installations are both formally constructed and experimental. Color is their teacher. Communicating to us on multiple levels, the gallery invites you to enjoy their newest works, fresh out of the studio.
ODETTA’s featured flat file artists for this exhibition are Nancy Baker, Rob de Oude, Audrey Stone

The show runs from September 7th – 30th. The opening reception is on Friday September 7th 6 – 8pm.

Dataatadata: 3-sphere + Flat File Artists at ODETTA

Thursday, July 26th, 2018

ODETTA Gallery is pleased to share  Dataatadata: 3-sphere, is a sculptural installation and visual exploration of the universe and higher dimensional space — a minimalist artistic expression of profoundly complex concepts.  Touching on the idea of infinity and folded space, artists Chris Klapper and Patrick Gallagher employ materials using resin, acrylic, light and sound to create multi-dimensional references to form and space that seems both fluid and solid at the same time.

Their current series, Dataatadata, a play on Dadaism, centers on the beauty of information and the poetry of numbers, and how they can be used to express complex ideas in a visual and experiential way.

In addition to the sculptural installation in the main gallery, ODETTA will have works from artists Elizabeth Gourlay and Morgan O’Hara in their Flat Files and will hear about their process and conceptual development.

The exhibition is on-going through August 19th.  The Gallery will host an Artist’s Talk: Sunday, July 29, 2018, at 3:00 pm with Chris Klapper and Patrick Gallagher and Flat File Artists Elizabeth Gourlay and Morgan O’Hara

Gourlay’s compositions are playful and serious, mysterious, meditative and stimulating. She has stated “I am attempting to present something that conveys a feeling, emotional content while using simple structures”. Her compositions speak of Gourlay’s love of music, architecture and nature filtered through a broad range of cultural influences and accomplished art making techniques.
