AWAD CEO and Founder to lead panel discussion at Art New York

Thursday, May 4th, 2017

AWAD is delighted to collaborate with Art New York for the 2017 fair edition with a panel discussion that addresses the intersection of art, women and tech. The conversation will not only look at who is already embracing tech, as seen in art and selling vehicles alike, but also the opportunities that digital innovation presents to women in the sector.

The discussion, Women Disrupting the Art World will be moderated by AWAD Founder & CEO, Susan Mumford. Join this interactive discussion between Susan, Colleen Marie Foley, Artist,
Alex Darby, from New Inc, and Kelani Nichole,  from Transfer Gallery. They’ll explore opportunities and challenges presented by technology, all the while uncovering how women are embracing digital to disrupt culture.

The panel will be held on Sat. May 6th 2.00pm – 2.45pm at Art New York.

Bridging the Divide: Contemporary Art, Demoralization, and the Power of Alliance

Thursday, March 2nd, 2017

The Association of Women Art Dealers is proud to partner with the Pen + Brush for an open forum on the role of art – and the art world, in 2017.  As we all grapple with how to face a world that looks, feels and almost is completely upside down, the role of art is more critical than ever.  Art has the capacity to freely reflect our dissent, provoke empathy, and understanding, and offer solace through expressions of sheer humanity, beauty, and love.  This discussion is meant to prompt a productive dialog between artists and the arts professionals who work to support their voices.

The event is free of charge however reservations are prefered. Please use this link to register.

As part of her newest venture, the Be Smart About Art Academy, AWAD’s founder Susan Mumford is hosting a panel discussion on ‘Pop Up Shows, Best Practices & Avoiding Pitfalls‘. In Susan’s own words, ‘Who is not aware of the recent(ish) phenomenon, the pop-up? That is, pop-up art exhibitions, restaurants, jewellery shops… You name it, it probably also takes place in a pop-up format. “Pop-up” was even said to have been the most overused word in the art world in 2011. So, how do these pop-ups work, anyway? Surely, pop-ups in existing galleries charge for space hire, but what about empty shops? What about listing a non-official venue in marketing listings? What are the creative considerations? And, what about insurance and legalities?’ Click here to learn more about the Be Smart About Art Academy.

An expert panel discussion ‘Pop Up Shows – How to make them a success & avoiding pitfalls’, will feature several speakers, including experienced gallerists and pop up exhibitors, presenting their experience and advice on best practices from creative considerations, marketing and PR to logistics, insurance and legal issues. Susan will moderate a panel including:

Isobel Beauchamp – DegreeArt.com

Will Lunn – SumarriaLunn.com

Sylvie Gormezano – Picture This Productions

Dan Calladine – LondonPopUps.com
