18/07/2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

AWAD Global Chapter 18 July 2017

The AWAD Global Chapter July meeting is taking place on Tuesday 18th July.

Time: 11am-12.30pm PST / 2-3.30pm EST / 7-8.30pm GMT.

GUEST SPEAKER: Annabel Kaye co-founder of Irenicon and AWAD Partner will speak about  “How to survive and thrive in the gig economy”

About the expert guest speaker

Annabel has spent almost 40 years helping growing businesses sort out the practical and legal side of paying people. She has been focused on the gig economy for almost ten years now, and is fascinated by how some business really do make this work and others crash and burn.

Working with growing businesses and a keen outsourcer herself, her insightful yet entertaining presentations are designed to get you thinking and planning for what suits your business. She recently explained elements of UK tax law using rubber ducks….Her quirky style helps reveal a depth of practical knowledge and experience that helps you decide how you want to run with this and make plans that suit your lifestyle and your business.

How to survive and thrive in the gig economy

You know how hard you work to get everything ready for an exhibition or an opening.   Long hours can turn to exhilaration as you see the results.

How resilient are you?  How long can you work long hours before it starts to affect your efficiency or your health?

Using freelancers and an outsourced team can give you the flexibility you need without committing to putting someone on payroll all the time.  Yet it’s not quite a simple as telling everyone you pay ‘You’re self-employed’.  Ask Uber or Amazon.   From California to Australia and the UK – ‘gig workers’ are campaigning for rights.  They already have far more than you think in some parts of the world.

In this interactive talk, Annabel will be exploring how to hire freelancers without losing control of your data or copyright and mailing lists.  She will be helping you consider when outsourcing overseas can be beneficial and when it should be avoided.

In a global world it is easy to forget that local law and tax legislation can apply to your gig workers and to you.   Do you know where to find the local minimum wage for the people you pay?  Do you even know where they are?

How much time should you set aside for managing your outsourced team?  And how do you handle time differences, cultural differences, and communication problems and still meet your deadlines?

She will also be touching on how to get REAL agreement with the people you pay.

Learn to be a genius of outsourcing as you grow your business.

About the AWAD Global Chapter

The Association of Women Art Dealers is piloting a Global Chapter.

This will be an entirely online monthly meeting, with a focus of supporting women art dealers who are not able to attend London and New York meetings and events. Art dealers are spread far and wide around the globe, and AWAD is keen to support women art dealers regardless of location. Notably, our mission is to support and facilitate business and enable collaboration between women art dealers.

  • The Global Chapter was launched in 2016, with meetings chaired by AWAD Founder & CEO Susan Mumford.
  • As with existing chapters, visitors are welcome to attend once prior to committing to join the association. During the pilot phase (set to complete end of 2017), visitors may attend for up to three times before applying for Membership.
  • AWAD reserves the right to vet attendees to ensure all visitors fulfil the requirements for AWAD Membership.
  • All current AWAD Members are welcome to attend these online sessions during the pilot period.
  • Susan will provide key information on AWAD and will facilitate a roundtable style conversation for all attendees, in which they are able to grow their dealer network while providing one another ideas in a collaborative fashion. Once the pilot phase is underway, guest speakers will attend meetings to provide insight for art dealers’ ongoing professional development, with subjects ranging from contracts to working with interior designers.
