Ellen Callamari has worked in the art world since the late 80s. Her gallery career, starting as front desk Gallerist and evolving to Director, includes illustrious galleries such as Mary Boone Gallery and Andrea Rosen Gallery.
In 2000, after more than 10 years of experience, Ellen left the gallery world and started advising private clients. As founder and president of Callamari Fine Art, Ellen provides discrete professional advisory services. Her clients include individuals enhancing sophisticated secondary market art collections as well as individuals new to collecting. Her knowledge of both blue chip market trends and young, emerging artists is the basis for the bespoke services she provides to clients.
As an advisor to the estate of the abstract expressionist Richard Pousette-Dart, Ellen has assisted in the sale and exhibition of his work nationally and internationally. She was a key contributor to the development and creation of the monograph, Richard Pousette-Dart: The New York School and Beyond (Skira, 2005).
In addition to providing advisory services, Ellen is certified to perform appraisals by Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) of The Appraisal Foundation, Inc., Washington, DC. As such, her appraisals stand up to the scrutiny of the IRS or a courtroom and follow the Code of Ethics of the Appraisers Association of America, Inc (AAA).
