Kristen Accola is the co-owner and co-director of Accola Griefen Gallery in NYC since 2010. In 2008 Kristen opened her first NYC gallery, Accola Contemporary. Previously she worked for 15 years at two NYC galleries, beginning as assistant to the director at Lefebre Gallery on Madison Avenue in 1978 and much later as Coordinator of Special Projects at Gary Snyder Fine Art in Chelsea, NY.
In addition Kristen spent 15 years as a curator, 10 of which were as Director of Exhibitions and Curator at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ and an additional 5 years as an independent curator for various galleries, colleges and corporations in NY and NJ. Exhibitions she has curated have been reviewed by the New York Times, Art News, Sculpture Magazine, Fiber Arts Magazine and numerous other newspapers and art publications.
Kristen has been a juror for the Joan Mitchell Foundation, on the benefit committee for the New York Foundation for the Arts and on the steering committee for the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. Kristen spent two years at Brown University before transferring to the Rhode Island School of Design where she received her BA in 1978.
