Susan Mumford has been active in the London artworld since 2001 and started her career as an art dealer in 2004. This followed: gaining an M.A. in Arts Management at Birkbeck College; working in several commercial art galleries in London; freelance curating; and working as a retail manager for five years.
She ran Soho-based gallery Mumford Fine Art from 2006-for five years, representing contemporary and 20th Century artists. In 2009 she founded the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), which facilitates business and collaborations between women art dealers, gallerists and art consultants in the UK.
In 2011 as an established art dealer and consultant, Mumford opened Susan Mumford Art Consultancy, in which she maintains and builds art collections for private and corporate clients, and continues to champion a key group of contemporary artists.
