Born and educated in (West) Germany, I was always passionate about the arts, especially German Expressionism – and, from early on, a member of the arts’ scene wherever I lived. I started collecting art in my early twenties, and was among the first in paying the artists by instalments.
However, I did not work in the arts.
When I moved to England in 1994, I turned my interest into a business, representing Gernot Kissel exclusively in the UK from 1996 onwards. I was lucky to find a gallery in Richmond who believed in this strong German expressionist artist. We organized the first big Kissel Exhibition in 1997 on two floors in the Air Gallery in Dover Street and more Solo Exhibitions followed. Then The Richmond Hill Gallery, who normally only deals in “Royal Academicians” held a big Kissel Show every year from 2003 to 2008. In June 2008 I organized a Kissel Exhibition in NYC. Gernot Kissel sadly passed away in August after one month of illness. I try to keep the memory of his work alive.
Fortunately, I had already taken on four other painters (and a sculptor lady) from France, Switzerland and Russia who are internationally known and I represent them exclusively in the UK. I currently work with established galleries throughout England, organise exhibitions and participate in Art Fairs. In 2010 – during a visit to Australia – I succeeded to add the famous Australian artist, Ken Done, with his joyful and colourful work to the artists I represent. I am also delighted to represent in England since 2011 the iconic German artist Elvira Bach.
