AWAD is delighted to share that two global chapter member galleries StArt Art and Guns & Rain are participating in the African Art Galleries Association (AAGA), African Galleries Now online art fair. The fair brings together a network of 10 pan-African galleries showcasing contemporary African art from the continent from March 30th – April 17th.
StArt Art Gallery from Windhoek Namibia, is showcasing four artists – Nicky Marais, Ismael Shivute, Elisia Nghidishange and Arno Holth. These artists work across a variety of mediums, yet share an evocative use of abstraction and symbolism.
Guns & Rain from Johannesburg South Africa, is featuring four artists – Raymond Fuyana, Hannah Macfarlane, Sizwe Sama Sibisi and Thebe Phetogo.
As international interest in African contemporary art continues to grow, the AAGA brings together a broad community of arts professionals championing the growth and sustainability of contemporary African visual art on the continent and supports its future leaders.
By building an African arts infrastructure and advancing the professional development of artists, curators, critics, art dealers and collectors while creating networks that allow emerging galleries to prosper, the pan-African AAGA initiative supports contemporary art sectors and infrastructure on all parts of the continent.
