Paradigm Gallery + Studio is pleased to present two solo shows during the month of September. Both shows will close on October 1st.

Some Strings Attached, is a show of new embroidered paintings by artist, Danielle Clough. Some Strings Attached will feature a collection of pieces focusing on Clough’s signature watercolor and embroidered portraits and extensions of her ongoing Girl Dust series in print and wallpaper form. Clough indulges in saturated color and texture to bring life to developed portraits of beautiful beings lost in thought or holding a gaze. Their likeness expands with colored thread tactfully sewn in the background, a moment in time distorted by fiber movement. Clough utilizes the medium of embroidery as a narrative for tenderness and memory, with some emotional bonds attached throughout.

The gallery is honored to host Danielle Clough for her first solo exhibition in the United States as well as a series of in-person embroidery workshops. As a well-established international artist, this partnership allowed Clough for dive into and develop the concepts behind her embroidered painting

Silhouettes, features new embroidered works by fiber artist, Han Cao. Silhouettes will feature 13 pieces, including Cao’s signature series of embroidered vintage photographs. Cao recontextualizes personal and social histories embedded within found objects by using thread and collage methods to create new narratives with the human form. Cao’s embroidered portraits and landscapes explore the boundaries between self and environment, between reality and dreamscape. Cao will be unveiling her first instance of playing with scale as she unveils 4 pairs of embroidered images: the original photograph and a larger twin.
