Red Hill Gallery in Brisbane is proud to present Pause, a new solo exhibition by acclaimed Australian artist Katherine Wood, opening Friday 22 May from 6–8pm as part of the gallery’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
In a world increasingly defined by constant movement and distraction, Pause invites viewers into a quieter, more reflective space — one of stillness, balance, and presence. Through atmospheric landscapes, subtle shifts of light, and deeply intuitive compositions, Katherine Wood explores the emotional and spiritual spaces that exist between action and intention.
Known for her expressive and meditative works, Wood has exhibited with Red Hill Gallery for many years, building a long standing relationship with the gallery well before she officially made Australia her home. Originally from South Africa and now exhibiting internationally, her work continues to resonate with collectors for its emotional depth, serenity, and contemplative energy.
Gallery Director and AWAD Member Margaret Campbell-Ryder said the exhibition is especially meaningful within the gallery’s milestone anniversary year.
“Over the years, Katherine’s work has offered audiences a sense of calm, reflection, and emotional connection. Pause feels particularly relevant today — it encourages us to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves through art.”
