Krieger and Davis – Open Call for Art on the Avenue

by | Mar 2, 2021 | Blog post

Susan Davis-Eley and Norma Krieger are pleased to announce that they are part of the Curatorial Team for Art on the Ave NYC, a public arts initiative dedicated to community regeneration and the elevation of local artists with a story to share. The organization’s aim is to spotlight artists who have been traditionally underrepresented, as well as those who are emerging.

The organization enlists vacant retail storefronts to act as display spaces for the exhibition. They work with local businesses to house art, offer promotions, and add a level of community interaction. Activity needs to return to the city, and art can foster that activity. It can serve as a tool to engage the community and to instill a sense of confidence in the neighborhood.

Krieger and Davis-Eley explain that “By placing art in empty storefront windows, we are taking a step toward regenerating the Greenwich Village community and sparking conversations through art.”

New York City artists are encourage to participate in the open call for art. The application deadline is March 14th. To apply please use this link.

The work will be on view from April 15th to July 31st 2021.
