Red Hill Gallery is pleased to share their last two exhibitions of the year on their website. Summer 2020 is a solo show featuring the work of acclaimed Australian painter Regina Noakes. Australiana also a solo exhibition, presents the work of STARR.
Regina Noakes’ works are instantly recognisable with their unapologetic female perspectives and motifs. Her dream-like works manifest a distillation of collected experiences into a visual unity, time and feeling. Injected with a strong sense of identity, combined with elements of alter egos, Noakes’ Romanesque and Mughal heritage permeates her work. “There has been no travel for me this year but my life in Perth remains unchanged. The norm for me is a work day 10 to 12 hours by myself and cats, painting in my studio. The works in this latest series are observations of people in various situations and several inspired by my obsession with the Hills of Perth, Western Australia. The natural beauty of the land and fauna itself have become visual interpretations for me.” – Regina Noakes
STARR is known for her larger-than-life approach to painting a canvas. You won’t be able to miss her bright colours, iconic Australian subject matter, and beautiful native bouquets throughout her newest body of work. “In what has been a testing year for Australians, beginning with the bushfires that swept our nation, through a global pandemic and ensuing lockdown, we consider ourselves luckier than ever to be Australian.” Margaret Campbell-Ryder Director, Red Hill Gallery.
