The Association of Women Art Dealers is delighted to welcome Carolina Santiago of CSB Fine Arts as an Associate Member of AWAD’s New York City/Tristate Chapter. Please enjoy learning a little bit about Carolina.
What is your professional background?
My professional background spans several industries. I hold a degree in Business Administration from the University of the Sacred Heart and began my career on Wall Street, where I specialized in Emerging Markets and Risk Management for many years. Seeking a more creative path, I transitioned to an international licensing company representing artists in art shows and licensing projects. Most recently, I have been dedicated to representing Latin American artists, helping them exhibit their work at art exhibitions and fairs, combining my business expertise with my passion for the arts.
What inspired you to take the leap and start your own business?
New York City is not only a hub for finance but also one of the world’s greatest centers for art, with its incredible museums and galleries. Early in my career, I was fortunate to work in finance—a field I truly enjoyed—while indulging my passion for art and design on the side. However, as I transitioned into the art world, I realized how deeply fulfilling it was to align my work with my passion. Starting my own business allowed me to fully immerse myself in the art world. It no longer feels like a job—it feels like a life that I am genuinely passionate about.
What does your business offer, in terms of goods and services?
Our business provides Latin American artists, particularly those residing in their countries of origin, with the unique opportunity to showcase their art in New York City—widely regarded as the art capital of the world. In addition to exhibition opportunities, we also offer professional framing services to both our artists and customers, ensuring that their artwork is beautifully and professionally presented.
What excites you about having joined the Association of Women Art Dealers?
I am thrilled to join the Association of Women Art Dealers because it offers the opportunity to be part of a remarkable organization that supports and empowers women in what has traditionally been a male-dominated field. I’m excited to connect with like-minded professionals, build meaningful relationships, and learn from their experiences and expertise.
What brings you joy in your work?
What brings me the greatest joy in my work is the ability to share an artist’s vision and bring their creations to life for others to experience. Additionally, I love creating beautiful spaces that not only showcase the artwork but also inspire and captivate those who encounter them.
A just for fun question: If you were a work of art what would you be and why?
If I were a work of art, I would be Yellow-Red-Blue by Wassily Kandinsky. This piece resonates with me because of its vibrant energy, dynamic composition, and sense of balance amidst bold creativity. Like Kandinsky’s work, my life and career have been a blend of structure and spontaneity, where every element contributes to a larger, harmonious vision.
