Harmony’ is a unique first solo show of the French artist Annabel Faustin for Artistellar. This online exhibition runs through March 8, 2021. The show presents nine paintings and works. Faustin’s body of work in the exhibition is all about the new fashion era we currently live in. In the past few years the fashion industry has transitioned from mass production and consumerism to more conscious and mindful consumption.

There is a new search for harmony between the planet and humans. It has become common to think about the origins of a clothing item; we wonder who produced it and under what conditions. Is that jumper going to be still trendy in a year from now as it is today? A new sense of belonging and commitment is growing on our hearts. Fashion has always been the reflection of society’s evolution. We can easily recognize clothes from the 50s, 70s, 80s, 90s…. But what would define fashion of the 2020s ? Old trends are coming back, vintage is the next coolest thing and the importance of sustainability is blooming all over the industry.

Inspired by visionary brands such as Ganni, Imparfaite, Jacquemus, Gucci and so on, the painter dreams about a future as bright as her colours. Vintage cardigans, flower furs and landscapes coats are popping among landscapes of the South of France – where the painter was born and grew up – to create a new playful and poetic world. The characters stand in the middle of nature, peaceful and confident, appearing in harmony with themselves and the world.
