AWAD global, San Fransisco based member re.riddle is honored to announce that Hong Kong/London-based artist Kongkee has joined its roster of distinguished international artists.

Kongkee, a.k.a. KONG Khong-chang is a Hong Kong animation director and visual artist. Renowned for his daring use of colors as well as his cyberpunk aesthetics, Kongkee’s artworks often feature familiar elements and symbols from Hong Kong—particularly architecture and street scenes that resemble the city as it appeared to him in his formative years. With everyday life as a starting point, Kongkee creatively incorporates fantastical elements to create a fictional city that mirrors reality in the form of animation, neon site-specific installation which visitors can see in the current exhibition Kongkee: Warring States Cyberpunk at Tai Kwun in Hong Kong.

Kongkee’s portfolio includes PandamanDing Ding Penguin, and Travel to Hong Kong with Blur created in collaboration with Britpop band BLUR in 2015. Kongkee started developing the comic series Mi Luo Virtual in 2013, which was later animated and transformed into a short film Dragon’s Delusion: Preface that won the grand prize of the 22nd DigiCon6. His most recent work is Flower In The Mirror, an interactive video installation commissioned by M+ Museum in 2021. In 2022, his major solo exhibition Kongkee: Warring States Cyberpunkdebuted at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and toured to Wrightwood 659 Museum in Chicago.
