Arredon Art is proud to present ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM by Cuban artist ELISA VALERIO. The artwork is viewable both in the gallery and online. The exhibition is on going through July 9th 2021.
For her first solo exhibition with Arredon Art, Valerio has created a collection of portraits which present human-like being with familiar expressions. It is in these expressions that the viewer is pulled away from the physical reality of the subject and into a contemplation of the emotion portrayed. By using heavily textured paints Valerio gives each canvas a tactile component while using dramatic colors to convey attitudes and emotions through her own decomposition of the subject matter. The exhibition gives the audience an insight into the world as Valerio sees it. The colors and the feelings as she has experienced them, especially coming out of a difficult year of a Pandemic. Abstract Expressionism by Elisa Valerio includes seventeen paintings varying in size from 20” x 16” to 40”x 40”.
Valerio studied painting and design at La Habana University of Cuba. After graduation, she married the artist Andres Valerio and worked alongside him advancing her craft while raising their family. In 1980, the family became residents of the United States. In 2013, Valerio began dedicating herself full-time to her art and launched her solo career with national and international exhibits and commissions. Valerio joined Arredon Art in August of 2020 and continues to paint from her home in Miami, Florida with exhibitions and collectors in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
