AWAD is pleased to welcome Varuna Kollanethu founder and director of Ruup & Form to AWAD’s London Chapter. As is our practice with new members, we asked Varuna to share some of her background and a bit about her business with us.

What is the name of your business and where are you located? when did you startu

Ruup & Form, we are located in London. The business started in 2019.

What is your professional background?

Curator, Advertising Professional

What inspired you to take the leap and start your own business?

Ruup & Form was born to blur the lines between craft, design and art, and work with makers pushing boundaries. Circular economies and sustainability plays a big part in choosing the makers we work with. Design in all forms excites me, I wanted to build a platform for artists, especially craftspeople, as they are grossly underrepresented.

What does your business offer, in terms of goods and services?

Contemporary Craft, Design and Applied art

What excites you about having joined the Association of Women Art Dealers?

The network of women in the same boat as me, and the wealth of information that this group holds.

What brings you joy in your work?

All of it! I am very passionate about the makers we represent. Collaborating with makers, clients, commissioning with corporates, curating the exhibitions, researching!

If you were a work of art, what piece would you be ?

Salvador Dalí -Couple aux têtes pleines de nuages/ Paul Scott’s Cumbrian Blues- Tree
