Guns & Rain Gallery is pleased to share that ARCO Lisboa is partnering with Artsy to take the fair online! The gallery was supposed to be exhibiting at the fair in Portugal for the first time this month so the online option is great news. The fair has a special Africa Focus section this year. Guns & Rain are presenting work by Thina Dube, Tuli Mekondjo, Ann Gollifer and Tawanda Takura. The fair runs through June 14th. There is also a catalogue featuring their artists.
Earlier in the Spring, the gallery held a successful online panel discussion “The Borders of Memory” with historian Lennart Bolliger and artists Tuli Mekondjo and Helena Uambembe. During the panel, many interesting questions were posed about silences around history, the need for regional dialogues, the place of ‘exile and struggle kids’, and more. For those who missed it the video is now available on YouTube. As Julie Taylor, Director of Guns & Rain said “The silver lining of covid 19 is that we are able to gather in new ways and I’m thrilled tonight to be joined by people from all over the world”
